Bedloe Frock

The Bedloe Frock is a nod to Liberty Island’s historic and former name, Bedloe Island, the home of the Statue of Liberty here in New York. This original Ivey Abitz design is made just for you in New York.

Get to Know Bedloe

Bedloe knows who she is: a layering companion, through and through.

Its bottom hem’s curves and points echoes the shape of the island itself, and this design detail is on the front AND the back of the frock. It also complements other designs in our collection. See below in ensemble suggestions.

Its v-shaped neckline allows you to feature your “base layer” frock more prominently at the neck, especially if you wear it over a rounded neckline. Its v-shape neckline matches the Ellis Frock’s neckline but is slightly larger so you can see the Ellis peek out just a bit. Clever, eh?

There are open seams, or slits, in the side seams below the waistline and down to the bottom hem. This allows you more freedom of movement, as well as access to the pockets in your base layer frock.

Fabric

Lighter weight weaves are ideal as this is meant to be a layering frock. Our silk chiffons, cotton voiles, and open weave fabrics are best for the Bedloe.

Ensemble Suggestions

The Bedloe Frock is meant to be worn with the other designs in the Ellis and Bartholdi collections. Its neckline with pointed and curved bottom hem complements the Ellis Frock with purpose. It was specifically designed to be worn over the Ellis as a lightweight layering piece, but it can also be worn over many other designs like our Blanchefleur Frock and Fairholme Frock.
