FAQ

At Ivey Abitz, we know who makes our clothing: we do. We meticulously design every piece sewn by our family of tailors who live right here in New York. Only 2% of garments sold in the USA are made in this country. Bespoke Ivey Abitz clothing is a rarity indeed.

We create garments, one at a time, chosen by you from our selection of exquisite European and American fabrics. This is the quality clothing of museums and heirloom treasures, meant to be worn and enjoyed every day. Contrast this with fast fashion that is causing a landfill crisis.

Such quality, personalized clothing adds meaning and enjoyment to everyday life. The investment is in yourself and the earth simultaneously.

Ivey Abitz is an original cohesive collection of bespoke clothing designed and sewn in the United States, sold exclusively at IveyAbitz.com.

Sizing and measurement information is listed for each Ivey Abitz design in a measurement chart just below the description.

Please note that our sizing is based on garment measurements, not body measurements. Any numbers listed are taken across the front of the garment as it lays flat and taut on a flat surface. For example, a chest measurement for a frock might be 22 inches. That means the frock is 22 inches across while it is laying flat. You may need to measure some of your other clothes in this manner in order to get a sense for how our garments will fit you.

Prices are listed with fabric options on each design page. Make a fabric selection to display the price.

Ready to Wear garments may be returned unworn for a full refund less shipping and 15% restocking fee within 10 days of delivery. Customer agrees to contact Ivey Abitz to request a return authorization and a shipping label. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted or refunded. Purchase amount will be refunded upon satisfactory inspection of returned garment. If garment is returned damaged or worn, the return will be canceled and the garment returned to the customer without refund.

Due to their custom nature, bespoke garments are nonreturnable, nonexchangeable, and nonrefundable. We are proud of our ability to help you select the right size and options for your custom clothing. But the bottom line is we want you to be smitten with your purchase, so please contact us if you are unhappy in any way.

Measuring instructions are provided at this page: How to Measure.

Clients that wear a size 10-12 typically wear a size medium in our collection. However, it depends upon how you like your garments to fit and drape on your body.

The best way for those new to our collection is to measure a few of your favourite garments at present and compare them to the measurement chart for the IA designs you are interested in. If your size happens to fall in between sizes, we can do custom tailoring for you as well. Keep in mind that there are versatile side ties in many of our designs, and they allow you to control the drape to get it exactly how you’d like it to fit.

If you have more than one garment in mind and are looking at an entire ensemble or group of ensembles, we will begin by creating a couple of garments for you. We’ll send them along to confirm the fit. Then, we create the rest of the order for you. This puts our first-time clients completely at ease, knowing that we work with you to ensure the proper fit. We want you to be smitten with everything.

We do not offer wholesale pricing for retailers. This is so that we can give our utmost attention to those who wear our designs. Each garment is individually made for the wearer who orders it. It is this personal connection that fulfills our creative vision.

We can add up to 2 inches to any measurement of a size XL for an additional fee. Refer to measurement charts on the ordering page to see if that will work for the designs you are interested in.

NOTE: Our sizing is different than mass-produced clothing, so please take a look at the garment measurements listed on each design page. Our garment measurements are measured on a flat surface across the front of the garment. The garment should be taut without any wrinkles. For example, a size xl generally measures 27 inches across the front of the chest. The circumference of the actual garment in the chest is approximately 54 inches.

Most Ivey Abitz garments are machine washable. In fact, we wash most garments before shipping in order to get the look our designer, Cynthia, intends. Occasionally we will offer a fabric that is dry clean only, but it will be clearly noted on the garment.

We provide care instructions for each fabric in its description at IveyAbitz.com. Just navigate to the fabric chart. Click on a fabric and it will bring up a larger image with a text description below.
