Animal Saints Rescue Society Success Story

Featured Animal Saint: Wilhelmina

Meet Wilhelmina, an Animal Saint rescued by Animal Saints Rescue Society. She was found as a stray and needed help getting out of an overcapacity animal control facility that euthanizes. Covered in mats and very skittish, she arrived in Animal Saint’s care with a horrid cough, alarming bloodwork, and a urinary tract infection. She had never been spayed, despite being at the age of 3-4 years of age. Our veterinarian discovered she has a collapsed trachea and appeared to be in kidney failure. Cynthia Ivey Abitz, the director of Animal Saints, administered subcutaneous fluids for weeks in the hopes of improvement. After months of recuperation, her bloodwork is amazingly back to normal. Animal Saints is giving her continued rest in the hopes of avoiding surgery on her trachea. Though she is a diminutive six pounds, she has an oversized court jester presence in the Animal Saints Rescue Society Sanctuary.
