1.) Organic beeswax from New York State (hey, that’s where we live and work!)
Why: It is a natural humectant (preserves moisture). We find that it may soothe, calm, exfoliate, repair damage, promote skin regeneration, and create a barrier for the skin against environmental pollutants. It is abundant in vitamin A, too.
2.) Organic calendula flowers from New York State
Why: We find that this special plant may help soothe irritation and reduces redness in skin, due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It is used to calm acne and rosacea.
It has also been shown to help prevent dermatitis and skin inflammation in people with breast cancer during radiation therapy, according to the National Library of Medicine. Even our government’s scientists are acknowledging the significant merits of calendula!
3.) Organic comfrey leaves and roots from Saturday Farm on Cape Cod
Why: Comfrey roots contain allantoin, a substance that help skin cells grow. We find that it reduces inflammation in skin. We use it to heal bruises, as well as sooth pulled muscles, sprains, and osteoarthritis. Balm consists of less than 5%.
4.) Organic olive oil from Spain or California
Why: We find that it is non-toxic, anti-microbial, and hypoallergenic. Combined with the beeswax, it enhances the moisturizing properties in the balm.
5.) The highest grade manuka honey from New Zealand
Why: Made from the honey from a manuka plant, a large flowering bush native to New Zealand. It contains vitamins and minerals, including potassium, zinc, and vitamin B3. It also has phenols and flavonoids, which are beneficial antioxidant compounds. We find that it may protect the skin from external stressors, keeping it looking healthy.
6.) Yes, just five ingredients. Though we suppose the 6th ingredient could be considered love. Love of the earth and love for you.
• The only scent is from the ingredients themselves. The vibrant golden hue is from the beeswax and freshness of the calendula.

THE BESPOKE BALM STORY:
As the artist of Ivey Abitz clothing, I handle a lot of fabric and paint. I’m always working with my hands, and the artwork takes its toll on them. My skin used to crack and bleed every winter. Then a dear friend, who happens to be an expert gardener and herbalist, created some all natural moisturizing balm, made just for me. It made me feel so special to use something so natural and so fresh. Best of all, my skin was soothed and healed! I started using it everywhere — especially on my face. I went from using multiple creams and lotions to using just one high quality balm. My skin has never been healthier or happier.

This balm is nothing short of MIRACULOUS. My husband recently had to treat skin cancer on his forehead with a topical chemo regimen that left his skin blistered, irritated and painful with skin peeling and sores – not pretty and quite painful.
