Fabric Description
Description: Our Shining Sea Plaid is cheerful and genuinely so. It is a breath of fresh air. Its plaid motif is a nod to all of the windowpanes in historic Cape Cod cottages, as well as the repetition of the cedar shingles. This weave has a special place in the collection, as it is in honour of Cape Cod’s Katharine Lee Bates who wrote the lyrics to “America the Beautiful” in 1895. The line “sea to shining sea” has always been a patriotic favourite, and we have given this weave the name Shining Sea for this reason.
Because of the texture in the crinkled effect, this lovely silk fabric has a bit of give to it. It is not as crinkled as our other silk chiffons, so we do recommend ordering your normal IA size or even going up a size for a fluid and relaxed drape.
Content: 100 percent silk, woven in Italy. All season weave.
Care: Simply hand wash or put through machine delicate cycle in cold water with a plant based detergent. We suggest using a natural fabric softener to maintain the softness we have washed into it. Tumble dry on extra-low heat with our artisan wool dryer balls to keep the relaxed effect that is featured in the Look Book. You can easily change the drape and fit by spritzing the weave with water and reshaping the silk chiffon. It is very forgiving and wonderful.
